  • Project Summary

    The SSERC Program's role is to support the FRDC in managing social and economic research, development and extension for the Australian seafood industry by:

    1. Identifying and communicating emerging social and economic issues, research needs and outcomes;
    2. Ensuring quality and relevance of social science and economics projects; and
    3. Maintaining and building further research capability to meet current and emerging social and economic issues and needs.

    Under the program the following strategic research is also being undertaken into:

    1. Social acceptability of Australian fisheries and aquaculture; and
    2. Integration of social and economic data with biological and ecological data to support integrated management of marine resources.
