Rock lobsters are among the most highly-prized seafood, but historically it has proven impossible to raise lobsters from eggs in commercial hatcheries.
Completed in 2019, the ARC Research Hub for Commercial Development of Rock Lobster Culture Systems established a collaboration between expert scientists and industry to undertake cutting edge research bringing the dream of sustainable farming of lobsters to reality. The research team developed innovative apparatus and unique methods to mass produce lobsters.
Further research is being undertaken to position Australia at the forefront of onshore lobster aquaculture in the ARC Research Hub for Sustainable Onshore Lobster Aquaculture.
